Boti Falls is the twin waterfall about 90 minutes northeast of Accra, past Koforidua, tucked inside the Boti Forest Reserve. Locals call the two channels the "male" and "female" falls, and during rainy season, roughly June through August, they actually merge into one wall of water, something the guides on site call the mating ceremony. We pull out of Accra by 7am so you're clear of Aburi ridge traffic on the way up, and by mid-morning you're at the top of the 250 steps down to the falls. You climb every one of those steps back up too, so wear shoes you can actually move in, not sandals. From Boti it's about 30 minutes to Umbrella Rock, a rock formation shaped exactly like its name suggests, with a short climb up to a lookout over the forest canopy. Right near it stands a palm tree, roughly 120 years old, that splits into three separate crowns instead of one, guides point it out unprompted because it's one of those things you don't see twice. We close the day at Akaa Falls, a smaller and quieter waterfall a short drive away that most first-time visitors have never heard of, because it isn't the one that shows up on every top-ten list. It's not the headline of this trip, but it's a good spot to sit for twenty minutes before the drive back. One thing worth saying plainly: if you've already looked at our quad biking trip or Adventure Delight, this is not the same waterfall wearing a different name. Those two go to Asenema Falls, in a different part of the Eastern Region entirely. Boti Falls is its own drive, its own forest reserve, and honestly the more famous of the two among Ghanaians, it's the one people usually mean when they say "the twin waterfall near Koforidua." Entrance fees for Boti, Umbrella Rock, and Akaa are all folded into your price. Plan on 8 to 9 hours door to door, pack sunscreen and a rain jacket if you're traveling in wet season, and bring some cedis for the road, the stands near Boti sell some of the best roasted plantain on that whole route.
